I’ve been watching the show Cosmos: A Personal Voyage with Carl Sagan. Andrew had me check it out from the library because it was his favorite show when he was five. In one of the 13 episodes we learned that Tycho Brahe was an astronomer that lost part of this nose in a dual and wore copper and gold prosthetics. Carl Sagan likes to say billion - he says it at lease a billion times in each episode.

At first I sort of felt bad that I didn’t spend a lot and got the cheap-o candy for trick-or-treaters. Then after all we got were teenagers not wearing costumes, I felt glad I had the stale candy, the kind you get from a piñata.

I saw the documentary last night Herb and Dorothy by Megumi Sasaki. I thought it was very beautiful. The film is “the incredible true story of a postal worker and a librarian who built a world-class art collection.” Herb and Dorothy Vogel built a large collection of minimalist and conceptual art, almost 5000 works, in their New York City apartment on a very modest income. In 1992 they transfered their colleciton to the National Gallery of Art and later donated 2500 works to 50 institutions, one in each state. They seem like warm, creative and funny characters. I was truly inspired.
